DARK HOMELAND (FRAGMENT)
There is a country of hope and shadow...
A country of speechless day-laborers
remote shepherds, patient artists,
who against time dig their shovels,
lead their flocks, work in their studios.
Silent metalworkers, miners. . .
There is a dark homeland, a hostile country
lacking in light, as the poor
lack joy and bread, as hate
and rancor are in excess on the burnt land.
